Basic Esthetics

Hour requirement: 600

Overview:
Basic esthetics is the entry-level requirement in the state of Virginia for esthetics. This program covers skin anatomy and physiology, skin types, skin conditions and diseases, and skin treatments. You will learn the process for basic and advanced facials including skin analysis cleansing, steaming, exfoliation, extractions, high frequency treatment, galvanic treatments, and facial massage. You will also learn body waxing techniques, body treatments, and make-up application. Basic estheticians often work in spa and salon setting performing facials and waxing.

Master Esthetics

Hour requirement: 600

Overview:
Master esthetics is the 2nd-level esthetics licensing in the state of Virginia. This is an optional, continuing education program. After obtaining a basic esthetician license, you may obtain your master esthetics training and licensing. This programs covers advanced skin care topics including, but not limited to, chemical exfoliation and peels, microdermabrasion, lymphatic drainage, radiofrequency treatments, microcurrent treatments, IPL, ultrasonic treatments, post- and pre-operative care. Master estheticians often work in medical spa settings, dermatologist offices, or plastic surgeon offices.

Massage Therapy

Hour requirement: 500

Overview:
This program covers anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, medical ethics, injuries, business, the muscular & skeletal system, various therapy applications and massage techniques. Massage offers many therapeutic benefits including: general body tension, helps to reduce mental stress, relieves pain, increases blood circulation and lymphatic flow, and brings fresh oxygen to muscle tissues. Massage Theropist often work in spas, fitness centers, physicians office and other health related industries. Course requires 500 theory and practical hours.

 

Nail Technician

Hour requirement: 150

Overview:
Nail technician program covers nail anatomy, nail diseases and disorders, and nail treatments. Training includes, but is not limited to, natural nail care, manicures, pedicures, acrylic nails, nail wraps. Nail technicians often work in spas and salons offering natural and/or artificial nail services.

Wax Technician

Hour requirement: 115

Overview:
Wax technician program covers skin and hair anatomy and physiology, skin conditions and diseases, indications and contraindications for hair removal, and various methods of hair removal services. Training includes, but is not limited to, full body wax techniques (eyebrows, legs, bikini, underarms, etc.), various waxing products, sugaring, and tweezing. Wax technicians often work in spa and salons offering wax services.

Esthetics Instructor

Esthetics instructor program offers instruction on how to teach the field of esthetics (basic or master). You will learn the various student learning and teaching methods, how to prepare lesson plans and teaching materials, how to efficiently test and monitor your students progress, how to manage the classroom, and how to prepare your students for the state exams. You are required to student teach as part of the curriculum. In order to teach esthetics in the state of Virginia, you must hold a valid Esthetics and Esthetics Instructor license.
